Oversee Head Start fiscal projects and programs related to general ledger accounting, fund accounting, grants accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, auditing, and purchasing.Directs in budget planning. Anticipates and evaluates revenues and expenditures and evaluates sources of variance during the fiscal year. Manages the work of professional, technical, and administrative support staff. Directs financial reporting, and reviews and approves monthly financial reports, grants reports,internal audits, and completes financial recaps. Coordinates internal and independent annual audits to ensure that proper budgeting and financial management controls practices are established and followed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in accounting, business, fiscal management,or related field. A master’s degree is highly desirable.
California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Minimum of five years of professional, fiscal management, or organization management and supervision experience associated with budgeting, accounting, auditing, and other fiscal services is required. Head Start and Early Head Start Program experience is highly desired.
Experience with MIP Accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Office 365 preferred.
Thorough knowledge of personal computing programs (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.).
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and shift priorities while under pressure.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, funding sources, and representatives of other agencies.
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors,and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain confidentiality.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license, own automobile, and current automobile insurance. Required to drive.
