The MAOF’s Finance and Accounting Department is searching for a highly motivated and experienced Compliance Officer to ensure that our agency is in compliance with all regulatory requirements from its funding sources, will mainly focus on procurement, budget management and fiscal monitoring, specifically with the Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
Master’s degree in Accounting or business-related field, or a Certified Public Accountant.
Prior experience in contract compliance in a nonprofit organization.
Must have Head Start/Early Head Start direct accounting and financial reporting experience.
Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in program accounting in a nonprofit setting.
Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in a compliance officer role or supervisory experience.
Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
Strong computer skills, including general knowledge of Excel and Word; proficient in all other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, etc.). Experience with computerized accounting system including purchase requisition.
Strong communicator and capable of expressing oneself clearly both speaking and writing.
Possess a collaborative personality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Superior attention to detail and strong organizational and leadership skills essential.
Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects with competing deadlines and to prioritize work effectively and apply a sense of urgency to projects.
Must be highly motivated, able to exercise discretion and good judgment, work independently, take initiative, participate as an effective team member and follow tasks through to completion.
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
Must have a valid California Driver’s License, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance at the time of employment.
Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Starting Salary: $95,000 annual
