Under the supervision of the Disabilities Coordinator and/or the Mental Health & Disabilities Manager, the Disabilities Specialist will be a staff person who assists in the provision of a program designed specifically for children and families receiving Special Education Services consistent with Head Start/Early Head Start requirements and other pertinent Federal, State and Grantee guidelines. Supports with monitoring and coordination of services for children identified with special needs.
Qualifications
Must have a Baccalaureate or Advanced Degree in child development, social work, special education, psychology, or related field.
A minimum of two (2) years experience in an early childhood setting serving children with special needs.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, have use of a motor vehicle, and provide evidence of auto liability as required by law.
Ability to work with an ethnically and linguistically diverse population.
Ability to verbally communicate with parents, children, families, and others in a effective manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to interact with people of all levels confidentially, effectively, and professionally.
Ability to maintain a positive work environment and relationships.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping and data entry skills,
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Special Qualifications
Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
Must provide vaccination records for Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) and Influenza(optional).
Will be fingerprinted and must clear through DOJ and FBI.
Must possess own vehicle, valid California Driver’s License and at minimum, general liability automobile insurance.
Must provide proof of COVID 19 vaccination or apply for exemption.
