Family Service Associate links Head Start families with services that are needed by the families such as health, special needs, nutrition, social series,mental health and parent involvement services. Supports family independence and competence allowing families to make their own decisions and choices of participation that will help improve their lives. FSA also provides collaborative planning in conjunction with other support groups and agencies inmeeting the families’ needs. FSA will work collaboratively with supervisor and/or designee to implement mandated Federal and state guidelines.
Qualifications
Minimum of AA degree in social work or related field or Family Development Credential.
Minimum two (2) years of work experience working with low-income groups is required; experience in a preschool environment is preferred. Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skillsand abilities is qualifying.
Makes home visits as required and as scheduled.
Travels to Head Start centers, social sites, community agencies, conferences, trainings.
Maintains current and accurate records as required by the program and insuring their confidentiality.
Collaborates effectively with others in a multidisciplinary approach.
Participates in the enrollment function of eligible children regardless of race, sex, creed,color, national origin, or children with disabilities.
Ability to work with an ethnically and linguistically diverse population.
Awareness and sensitivity to individual differences and cultures.
Good interpersonal skills to communicate in an effective manner.
Good record-keeping skills.
Ability to maintain positive work environment and relationships
Computer skills.
English/Spanish Language fluency.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle, and provide evidence of auto liability insurance as required by law. Good driving record.
