The Immigration Support Specialist is responsible for assisting and supporting the Director of Immigration Services with a variety of tasks and activities related to MAOF’s immigration workshops, projects, and advocacy campaigns with an emphasis on Naturalization while obtaining training to acquire accreditation. With the proper supervision of MAOF’s DOJ- accredited representative, the support specialist will assist clients in completing citizenship, DACA, renewal for permanent residents,family petitions, translating identification certificates from Spanish to English, and preparing and managing case file for clients.
Qualifications
Minimum two (2) years of office or related experience
Bachelor’s degree related to social areas and/or law preferred.
Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Self-motivated and a problem solver.
Commitment to excellence - Performs duties consistently at the highest level possible with attention to detail.
Familiarity with delivery of services which are mindful of different cultural and language traditions, showing respect and validation for communities. Sensitive and confidential to the needs of the clients and the community served.
Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Must possess own vehicle at all times, a valid California Driver’s License, and appropriate automobile insurance.
Excellent presentation skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills and successfully meeting position requirements.
Ability to be flexible, innovative and adapt to the changing needs of the program, department and agency.
Ability to travel.
Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Work as part of a team and collaborate with co-workers; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
Special Qualifications
Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
Must provide vaccination records for Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) and Influenza (optional).
Will be fingerprinted and must clear through DOJ and FBI.
Must provide proof of COVID 19 vaccination or apply for exemption.
