The Area Supervisor/Mentor Coach is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising multiple Early Head Start-CCP sites and Site Supervisors. This position oversees the planning and development of new and existing childcare facilities, ensures compliance with organizational and program policies, and serves as a member of the program's management team. Additionally, the Area Supervisor/Mentor Coach provides coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to teaching staff to promote high-quality early childhood education and support continuous professional development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular site visits and build collaborative relationships with teaching staff and Family Child Care(FCC) Providers.
Collaborate with Site Supervisors, CDE Education staff, and FCC Providers to ensure lesson plans align with established curriculum requirements.
Provide coaching and mentoring to early education staff and FCC Providers to support the implementation ofhigh-quality early learning practices.
Provide resources, constructive feedback, modeling, and technical assistance to promote positive child outcomes.
Develop and facilitate training sessions on Early Childhood Education (ECE) best practices, Environment Rating Scales (ERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and other relevant topics.
Support teaching staff and FCC Providers in implementing research-based, develop mentally appropriate practices and interventions that promote children's learning and family engagement.
Monitor and support program data collection and documentation activities.
Participate in meetings, committees, and other assigned activities.
Conduct classroom and program assessments as assigned.
Prepare reports and maintain records related to departmental activities and program performance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Child Development, Education, Educational Administration, Business Administration, or Management. If the major is not in management, at least 12 semester units in administration or management are required.
Child Development Site Supervisor Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience.
Preferred experience in Early Childhood Education and management of government-funded programs.
Valid California driver’s license, access to avehicle, and proof of auto liability insurance, along with a good driving record.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and computer literacy.
Competency in analyzing quantitative data,critical thinking, decision-making, group facilitation, and systematic planning.
Knowledge of early childhood education standards, curricula, instructional methods, and the CLASS assessment tools.
Experience in providing technical assistance, coaching, and mentoring to staff, as well as expertise in adult learning techniques.
Ability to achieve annual reliability in CLASS assessments, including Toddler, Infant, FFCERS, and ITERS.
Capacity to maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with team members, while managing projects under tight deadlines.
