General Summary:

The Associate Director is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the program, ensuring that its mission and objectives are achieved through effective leadership, strategic execution, and cross-functional collaboration.This role provides direct supervision to Program Managers, Site Supervisors,Documentation Coordinators, Staff Development Supervisors, and center-based staff. The Associate Director is expected to drive high-quality service delivery, ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, and promote continuous program improvement. This is an on-site position and requires regular presence at the main office as well as routine visits to all assigned child care centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate and propose program goals and strategic action plans.
  • Manage the operations and functions of designated child care and preschool centers.
  • Ensure that the program aligns with organizational objectives through effective oversight.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and provide support to Program Managers and Staff Development Supervisors.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
  • Monitor the performance of Program Managers, coordinators, and the Staff Development Supervisor to ensure effective oversight and training at each site.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and licensing requirements, including resolving issues and completing necessary documentation and applications.
  • Review quarterly monitoring reports from centers and ensure timely follow-up on actions taken.
  • Collaborate with center staff and Site Supervisors to address and resolve center-level concerns, including those raised by parents.
  • Aid Staff Development Supervisors in addressing concerns related to staff or parents.
  • Conduct interviews with children and staff for internal investigations, document findings, and recommend corrective measures when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Staff Development Supervisors and Site Supervisors in support of NAEYC Accreditation efforts.
  • Compile and prepare agency reports and year-end summaries.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the planning and implementation of safety measures.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety binders are up to date, distributed across all sites, and that related training sessions are held.
  • Review and approve Unusual Incident Reports for submission.
  • Conduct site visits to provide training, evaluate program quality, and support staff and center operations as needed.
  • Attend designated meetings and actively participate in decision-making and the sharing of critical program information.
  • Prepare and submit licensing applications in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the flexibility to drive and travel to various program sites as necessary.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
  • A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Must hold a Child Development Director Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education, with direct experience managing government-funded programs, is preferred.

  • Proficiency in computer applications.

  • Capability to complete projects under tight deadlines, handle competing priorities and adapt to changes in assignments.
  • This position requires regular driving. Must have access to a personal vehicle, possess a valid California driver’s license,maintain current automobile insurance, and have a good driving record. The ability to operate a company vehicle as needed is also required.
