Reports To: Program Director, Site Supervisor, Lead Custodian and or designee
DEFINITION
To maintain the Child Care and Development Program's facilities, child care centers, offices, grounds,equipment, and storage rooms in good repair, orderly, and clean.
Responsibilities:
Under the general guidance of the Site Supervisor, Lead Custodian and/or designee, following established MAOF procedures, utilizes and devises methods and procedures to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the MAOF Child Care and Development Program's centers and equipment.
As appropriate, sweeps, mops, vacuums, and waxes all center and office floors regularly, maintaining a clean and neat appearance.
As necessary, sweep and clean utility rooms, storage rooms, garages, and outdoor play areas.
Water outdoor plants and play areas.
Daily cleans and disinfects bathrooms and maintains paper supplies.Empties wastebaskets daily.
Washes windows and hand marks from walls and doors.
Loads and unloads deliveries of food, supplies, and equipment.
Arranges storage areas and is responsible for rotating food to ensure that the earliest purchased food is used first.
Sets-up equipment.
Makes minor repairs to equipment.
Makes minor indoor and outdoor repairs.
Performs minor building repairs, renovations, and plumbing (faucets,washers, etc.).
Ensures that the center doors and gates are securely locked at the end of the day and when leaving before or after opening or closing hours.
Completes Health and Safety checklists of centers assigned and reports
necessary repairs to Site Supervisor.
In a timely manner, submits requests for janitorial equipment and supplies to the Site Supervisor.
Maintains a neat personal appearance.
Regular attendance; Monday through Friday, assigned schedule.
As assigned attends trainings and meetings.
As assigned, carries out any other activities necessary for the proper implementation of MAOF's Child Care and Development Program.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Physical and mental fitness to perform custodial duties effectively.
Submission of vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles is required at the time of employment, with annual updates thereafter.
Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or apply for an exemption/waiver.
Completion of a tuberculosis (TB) test and physical examination prior to employment.
Must be fingerprinted (in compliance with state law) and maintain Live Scan fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
Criminal record clearance through FBI, DOJ, and CACI must be obtained prior to employment.
Completion of LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement and Out of State Disclosure is required.
Must possess reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License, and the required insurance.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
Use of Equipment and Vehicles
Employees are responsible for the proper use and care of MAOF equipment and vehicles, which are valuable and costly to replace. This includes adhering to all operating instructions, safety standards, and maintenance guidelines.
Any damage, defects, or repair needs must be promptly reported to the supervisor to prevent further deterioration and ensure safety. Supervisors are available to clarify maintenance and care responsibilities.
Improper or careless use of equipment and vehicles, as well as traffic or parking violations, may lead to disciplinary actions, including possible termination of employment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands outlined below represent the requirements that an employee must meet to effectively perform the essential functions of this position.
While carrying out job duties, the employee is regularly required to use their hands for tasks such as fingering,handling, or feeling and must be able to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee may occasionally need to sit and reach with their hands and arms, but it is frequently required to stand and walk. Additionally, the employee may need to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this role include the ability for close vision, peripheral vision, and the capacity to adjust focus.
