The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, tracking, and processing of all Centralized Eligibility List(CEL) applications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely handling of applications, compliance with program requirements, and effective communication with applicants. The Eligibility Specialist supports recruitment efforts, maintains organized records, and provides administrative support in alignment with program goals and funding source requirements. This is an on-site position and requires regular presence at the main office or designated facility. Driving required to conduct outreach and canvassing activities to support program recruitment, community engagement, and promotional efforts. This is not a hybrid position.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years of paid experience in office or clerical work.
Proficiency with 10-key data entry; by touch preferred.
Represent MAOF skillfully and professionally.
Ability to manage high volumes of work, particularly during peak periods.
Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service to the public.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse social, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills; thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to meet deadlines and work occasional weekends as needed.
Ability to maintain professional, cooperative, and diplomatic working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
Ability to work effectively and sensitively with diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural groups.
Possess a positive attitude and a genuine desire to support the welfare of children and their families.
Sensitive to the needs of the program and the community at large.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple and shifting priorities.
This position requires driving for recruitment and canvassing activities. Candidates must have access to a personal vehicle, hold a valid California driver’s license, and maintain current automobile insurance.
