To plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with Child Care/Preschool nutrition guidelines and CACFP regulations. The Homemaker ensures the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the kitchen, maintains accurate records, and supports a positive, healthy environment that promotes the well-being and development of all children in the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and Nutrition Specialist, the Homemaker will perform the following duties:
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks daily.
Record food temperatures upon arrival and at service to ensure safety.
Assist staff in serving lunch and perform light housekeeping related to meal areas.
Wash, disinfect, and organize dishes, utensils, and kitchen supplies.
Maintain and update production records, including meal counts and calculations.
Place and check food orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
Monitor food deliveries for quality and proper condition.
Manage inventory, labeling and dating all food and supplies.
Keep the kitchen clean, sanitary, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Treat children with warmth, respect, and dignity.
Communicate concerns regarding allergies, dietary needs, or sanitation to staff and families.
Stay current with food safety and sanitation regulations through ongoing training.
Maintain accurate documentation of inventory, meal counts, and sanitation records.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Support additional duties to promote a safe, healthy environment for children.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and independent planning tasks.
Strong reading, writing, and communication skills, with basic math and logical reasoning abilities.
Proficient in using a calculator and basic computer applications.
Must complete and maintain a valid California Food Safety Certification, renewed every three years.
Ability to build and maintain cooperative, respectful relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance, including wearing an apron and hair net daily.
Must submit to an annual influenza vaccination or provide a waiver; vaccination records for influenza, pertussis,and measles are required at hire.
Must pass tuberculosis (TB) testing and a physical examination prior to employment.
Criminal background clearance via FBI, DOJ, and CACI is required before hire; live scan clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
Complete LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement and Out-of-State Disclosure.
Within 90 days of hire, complete AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training and renew every two years.
