The Social Services Associate is a staff person who will assist the Child Care administration with the clerical support services as assigned. Social Services Associate will travel to the assigned child care / pre-school centers to aid in the provision of social services necessary to permit parents and children to benefit from and be able to continue participation in the MAOF child care program. This staff member will work collaboratively with administration to implement mandated Federal and State guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts with families in a manner that is respectful of each family’s ethnic, cultural and diversity; Communicates in an effective manner with parents, children and staff;
Assist in the enrollment function of eligible children regardless of race, sex, creed, color, national origin, or children with disabilities;
Assist the Child Care Administration in other documentation necessary for program accountability as required by the State Department of Educational;
Meets with parents of children enrolling in the program and completes the necessary supportive services documents/process;
Maintains a centralized record-keeping system which ensures confidentiality of the children’s records;
Assist in the completion of the enrollment forms, contracts, fee determinations, etc., prior to final approval. Assists with recertification;
Maintains and prepares reports for submission to the Child Care Administration (i.e., attendance, control sheets and required forms);
Assists in the set-up and/or sets up program resources;
Assists in parent education programs including notifying parents of available services through MAOF and through the community at large;
Encourages families to develop confidence and self-sufficiency in dealing with bureaucracy and personal matters;
As required, will participate in parent education and advisory group meetings;
Assist in the recruitment of eligible children into the program;
Carries out any other activities, which may be necessary for proper implementation of the program;
Weekend work may be assigned as needed;
Required to travel to designated Child Care and or Pre-School Centers;
Attends staff meetings, workshops, and conference, as assigned;
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of (1) year completed college-related courses, preferred.
One year experience in a pre-school or childcare setting or one year experience in case management and/or clerical work;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Spanish;
Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills;
Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel);
Proper phone etiquette;
Sensitivity and ability to work well with diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups;
Must have a positive attitude with a desire to work with and promote the welfare of children and their families;
Sensitive to the needs of the program and the general public;
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished verbally and in writing;
Negative T.B. test or chest X-ray, negative drug and alcohol screen test;
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers and supervisors; work as part of a team and collaborate with department; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are completing requirements and changes in assignments;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Must possess own automobile, valid California Driver’s License, and current auto insurance.
