The Co-Location Specialist will be responsible for certifying the eligibility of Stage 1 CalWORKs participants. The Co-Location Specialist will be responsible for providing counseling, child care and supportive service referral to CalWORKs participants at the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). Co-Location Specialist will represent MAOF at the location assigned with DPSS and will perform duties in compliance with Funding Terms and Conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Certify eligibility of CalWORKs’ parents via GEARs, process ST1-01/MCCR and enhanced referrals for child care services
form within set timelines as indicated in the CalWORKs Statement of Work, conduct child care orientation to CalWORKs’ participants as mandated by the CalWORKs Stage 1 contract
Provide counseling, child care information and supportive services referrals to CalWORKs participants at the DPSS office
Inform CalWORKs participants about required provider documentation for licensed and licensed exempt provider
Maintain appropriate log of ST1-01/MCCR forms directly received from DPSS staff and CalWORKs participants includingST1-01/MCCR forms forwarded to different APP/R&R agency
Forward ST1-01/MCCR forms to the main office on a daily basis and in a timely manner
Ensure that educational materials are available in the lobby for each respective DPSS Co-Location site
Act as liaison for unit members at the DPSS office as needed
Follow-up with parent to ensure that the enhanced referral was given and child care arrangements were made
Answer incoming calls promptly and with proper phone etiquette
Contact a parent-selected provider and inform them about the child care process
Input all pertinent data on parent, children and provider in the MAOF database
Request proper documentation for licensed and licensed-exempt providers
Act as back-up for other CalWORKs Co-Location offices as needed
Participate as a unit member in the evaluation and improvement of CalWORKs child care services to parents,providers and the general public
Attends staff meetings, workshops, and conference, as assigned
Maintains confidentiality
Other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Spanish.
BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education,Child Development or related social or human services field, preferred or equivalent knowledge from work experience
Experience working with Los Angeles County Welfare System and CalWORKs’ Program preferred
Computer literate
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must have own automobile with insurance and a current driver’s license.
Ability to travel.
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
Excellent problem resolution skills
Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters

Ability to work with minimal supervision
