The Family Service Associate is a staff person who links Head Start families to appropriate health, special needs, nutrition, social services,mental health and parent involvement services, supporting them in making decisions and choices that will help improve their lives.This staff person also works collaboratively with Program Specialists to implement mandated Federal and state guidelines.
Qualifications
AA/BA degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with a minimum of12 semester units of applied coursework in social work, psychology, sociology,human services or related field.
Minimum one (1) year document paid or voluntary experience working with low-income groups is required; experience in a preschool environment is preferred. Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Ability to perform complex program requirements.
Strong organizational, analytic, and administrative skills.
Proficient in reading, writing, math, and understanding of work-related material.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills.
Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet.
Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
Sensitivity and ability to work well with diverse social, ethnic, religious, and cultural groups.
Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Special Qualifications
Must possess own vehicle, a valid California Driver’s License and appropriate automobile insurance at all times.
Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening and Tuberculosis(TB) clearance.
Must provide vaccination records for Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) and Influenza(optional).
Will be fingerprinted and must clear through DOJ and FBI.
