Under general supervision, the Home Visitor partners with families to support the healthy growth and development of infants and toddlers through home-based Early Head Start services. The Home Visitor works directly with parents and caregivers to promote school readiness, strengthen parenting skills, and support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a caseload of approximately 12 families and conduct weekly home visits.
Facilitate parent-child learning activities using the program curriculum and individualized lesson plans.
Conduct child observations, developmental screenings, and educational assessments.
Develop and implement individualized educational plans based on each child's developmental needs.
Organize and facilitate group socialization activities for enrolled families.
Support parents in fostering their child's learning and development using home and community resources.
Maintain accurate records, attendance, assessments, and required documentation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to support family goals and child outcomes.
Ensure a safe and nurturing environment during home visits, socializations, and program activities.
Participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Communicate effectively with families in their primary language and provide culturally responsive services.
Provide classroom support and substitute in center-based programs as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 24 Child Development units required.
Two(2) years of paid experience working with children ages 0–5; infant/toddler experience preferred.
Valid Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) preferred.
Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities.
Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to serving children andfamilies.
Valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance required.
