Reports To: ProgramDirector, Site Supervisor, Lead Custodian and or designee
DEFINITION:
To plan and prepare meals for the children, as stated in the Child Care/Preschool nutrition guidelines according to the CACFP regulations. To maintain the Child Care and Development Program's center facilities, offices, grounds, equipment, and storage rooms in good repair, order, and cleanliness.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor and the Nutrition Specialist, will follow established MAOF procedures and official guidelines and regulations to accomplish the following activities:
Prepares & serves meals, snacks and lunch for children daily.
Prepares nutrition reports on a monthly basis.
Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
Makes timely requests for orders, food and supplies. Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving and preparing food,
Keeps the kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition. Also performs other light housekeeping duties as required,
Observes necessary health, sanitary, and safety procedures,
Maintains a clean and neat personal appearance. Wears an apron and hair net DAILY,
Treats each child with warmth, affection,respect and dignity,
Assists in classroom activities as assigned by Center Supervisor,
As appropriate, sweeps, mops, vacuums, and waxes all center and office floors on a regular basis maintaining a clean and neat appearance.
As necessary, sweeps and cleans utility rooms, storage rooms, garages, and outdoor play areas. Waters outdoor plants.
Daily cleans and disinfects bathrooms and maintains paper supplies. Empties wastebaskets daily. Washes windows and hand marks from walls and doors.
Loads and unloads of deliveries of food, supplies and equipment.
Arranges storage areas and is responsible for the rotation of food to ensure that the earliest purchased food is used first. Sets-up equipment.
Makes minor repairs to equipment. Makes minor indoor and outdoor repairs.
Ensures that the center doors and gates are securely locked at the end of the day and when leaving before or after opening or closing hours.
Completes Health and Safety checklists of centers assigned and reports necessary repairs to Site Supervisor. In a timely manner, submits requests for janitorial equipment and supplies to the Center Director.
Attends trainings, childcare classes or seminars conducted at MAOF or elsewhere as assigned and necessary to have effective nutrition activities and career advancement.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent,
Units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education preferred,
Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred,
Basic mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions,
Plan well with a minimum of supervision,
Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
Work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.
Physical and mental fitness to engage in custodial work
Must apply for California Food Safety Certificate, renewed every 3 years.
Must have transportation, California Driver License and required Car Insurance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands outlined below represent the requirements that an employee must meet to effectively perform the essential functions of this position.
While carrying out job duties, the employee is regularly required to use their hands for tasks such as fingering,handling, or feeling and must be able to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee may occasionally need to sit and reach with their hands and arms, but it is frequently required to stand and walk. Additionally, the employee may need to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this role include the ability for close vision, peripheral vision, and the capacity to adjust focus.
