Supports the education, supervision, and care of children in a safe and nurturing learning environment.In the absence of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant/Substitute Teacher assumes classroom responsibilities and implements established lesson plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and assigned Teacher, the Teacher Assistant/Substitute Teacher supports classroom instruction, supervises children, assists with lesson implementation, and contributes to the observation and documentation of children's developmental progress.
Assist with classroom instruction and daily activities by preparing materials, demonstrating tasks, supervising play, assisting with meals and nap routines, and performing other assigned duties.
Support a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes children'ssocial, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Provide continuous supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
Assume classroom teaching responsibilities and implement lesson plans in the Teacher's absence.
Assist with daily attendance and classroom documentation as assigned.
Support children during snack and meal times while encouraging positive eating habits and social interaction.
Assist in planning and leadingage-appropriate educational activities, including art, music, games, and creative play.
Collaborate with the Teacher in preparing lesson plans, educational materials, and classroom equipment.
Assist in observing, assessing,and documenting children's developmental progress.
Maintain classroom supervision when the Teacher is temporarily away from the classroom.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers while promoting a welcoming and inclusiveclassroom environment.
Adapt to different classrooms, age groups, and center locations as needed while maintaining consistent quality of care and instruction.
Maintain a professional appearance and comply with MAOF dress code requirements, including the use of assigned uniforms or aprons.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful implementation of the MAOF Child Care and Development Program.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid California Associate Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with preschool-aged children.
Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile liability insurance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with children and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio economic backgrounds while maintaining confidentiality.
Positive attitude and commitment to supporting the growth and development of young children.
Must successfully complete allpre-employment health requirements, including a physical examination, Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, required immunizations, and criminal background clearances through the FBI, DOJ, and CACI prior to employment.
Must maintain Live Scan fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
Regular attendance is required in accordance with the work schedule assigned based on the program’s need.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required tostand, walk, bend, reach, use hands to handle objects, communicate effectively,and interact with children, staff, and families. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The worke nvironment is primarily located within an early childhood education setting and may include classrooms, outdoor play areas, kitchens, and administrative offices. Employees may be exposed to varying noise levels, cleaning products, infectious illnesses common to child care settings, and changing weather conditions while supervising outdoor activities. This position also requiresthe use of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and photocopiers.
