MISSION

The Becas Alas initiative is committed to expanding educational access and achievement for high school seniors of Mexican and Latino heritage in California. The program provides a one-time scholarship grant ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 USD. These funds may be applied toward tuition, academic fees, and essential educational materials, including textbooks and online learning resources.

The primary objective of Becas Alas is to help eliminate financial barriers for students who have been accepted into accredited colleges or universities. The program is designed to support academic advancement and ensure that financial hardship does not prevent qualified students from pursuing higher education.

Becas Alas also seeks to engage the Mexican and Latino communities across Southern California in a shared commitment to educational equity. This initiative—led by IMME and the Consulates of Mexico in Fresno, Los Angeles, Oxnard, and San Bernardino, in collaboration with MAOF—aims to cultivate a culture of support, resilience, and opportunity, empowering a new generation of leaders dedicated to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
