To create program activities that address the developmental needs of children by providing appropriate learning experiences, goals, and objectives to all contractual commitments to the California Department of Education and Early Education Support Division.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, Education Specialist must assist in the implementation of the FCCHEN Program and perform the following duties.
Monitor Family Child Care Home environments to ensure compliance with California Department of Education, Early Educationand Support Division, and Community Care Licensing regulations.
Observe and assess children using the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).
Conduct Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS) assessments.
Develop and maintain accurate child, family,and provider records in accordance with program and contract requirements.
Ensure age-appropriate curriculum and activities are implemented to support children's cognitive, physical, social,and emotional development.
Conduct periodic on-site health and safety monitoring visits to assigned Family Child Care Homes, including those locatedin outlying areas, requiring travel using a personal vehicle. Visits may occur during opening and closing hours to ensure compliance with sign-in procedures and health and safety regulations.
Prepare reports to evaluate program effectiveness and support the continuous improvement of the FCCHEN Program.
Conduct training sessions for providers and parents on topics related to child growth, development, health, safety, and program requirements.
Monitor nutrition services at Family Child Care Homes to ensure compliance with the State of California Food and Nutrition Program.
Collaborate with community agencies and childcare resources, including Resource & Referral agencies, Alternative Payment Programs, and social service organizations, to obtain and exchange information.
Prepare and submit monthly activity and monitoring reports, including documentation of deficiencies identified and corrective actions taken.
Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of an Associate Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing required.
Minimum of three(3) years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Knowledge of FCCERS (Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale) and DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile) required.
Proficient in computer applications, including data entry and record keeping.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to travel to assigned locations and perform duties requiring driving.
Must possess areliable personal vehicle, a valid California Driver’s License, and at minimum, proof of current automobile liability insurance.
