To plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with Child Care/Preschool nutrition guidelines and CACFP regulations. The Homemaker ensures the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the kitchen, maintains accurate records, and supports a positive, healthy environment that promotes the well-being and development of all children in the program.
ESSENTIALDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with program guidelines.
Maintain food safety by monitoring food temperatures, sanitation practices, and compliance with health regulations.
Receive, inspect, store, and manage food and kitchen inventory, including labeling, dating, and ordering supplies.
Maintain accurate records, including meal counts, production logs, inventory, and sanitation documentation.
Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dishes, utensils, equipment, and meal service areas.
Communicate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and sanitation concerns with staff and families as appropriate.
Promote a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while treating children with warmth, respect, and dignity.
Perform other related duties asassigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Food Handler Card/Food Safety Certification required or the ability to obtain and maintain certification within the required timeframe.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
Strong verbal, written, basic mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including the useof calculators and standard office applications.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with children, families, staff, supervisors, and the public.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to required food service sanitation standards, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., apron and hair net).
Must successfully meet all health, fingerprinting, criminal background (DOJ, FBI, and CACI), TB, physical examination, immunization, and Mandated Reporter Training requirements as acondition of employment.
