A staff person who assists in the teaching of a HS Center instructs children in activities designed to promote their social,physical, and intellectual growth. Assists in the planning of individual and group activities which stimulates learning, according to the ages of the children. Responsible for the supervision of children at all times indoors/outdoors. The position is situated in the educational service component of HS/EHS.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Twelve(12) units in Early Childhood Development.
Valid Child Development Associate permit or qualify for a Temporary County Certificate (TCC).
LACOE Career Development Initiative Pathways – Candidates participating in one of LACOE’s Career Development Initiative Pathways may be hired with the following provisions:
Six(6) ECE units or valid CDA credential.
Continuously enrolled in a program leading towards the CDA Teacher Permit per the CCTC matrix.
Associate Teacher Permit must be acquired within 2 years of employment.
A Professional Development Plan must be developed within 1 month of hire and must identify clear time frames for the completion of the Associate Teacher Permit.
Must commit to 2 years of employment after the completion of the program (written commitment must be properly documented by agency).
Must complete LACOE’s ECE Teacher Preparation Academy in addition to the onboarding training.
Bilingual(English and Spanish) preferred.
Special Qualifications
Must complete AB 1207 California Childcare Providers: Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of hire, renewed every two (2) years.
Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
Must provide vaccination records for Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) and Influenza(optional).
Will be fingerprinted and must clear through DOJ and FBI.
Hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
