GENERAL SUMMARY:
A staff person who provides planned opportunities for children in activities designed to promote social, physical and cognitive growth and development. Responsible to plan individual and group activities that are designed to promote each child’s individual strengths as a result of ongoing assessments and observations. Incorporates parents’ goals for their child into the daily activities.
Create and maintain a safe,nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants and toddlers.
Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development.
Develop weekly lesson plans, conduct ongoing child observations and assessments, and maintain required documentation.
Conduct daily health and safety checks, supervise children at all times, and ensure compliance with all health,safety, and licensing regulations.
Support the individual needs of children, including those with disabilities, while promoting inclusion, cultural diversity, and family engagement.
Build positive relationships with families through regular communication, parent conferences, home visits, and parent education activities.
Supervise classroom volunteers and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support children's overall development.
Maintain an organized classroom environment, monitor classroom supplies, and assist with ordering materials within budget guidelines.
Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and program planning activities.
Perform other related duties asassigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Teacher I: Must have a minimum of an AA degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development and currently attending courses towards a BA degree. Will be placed on a professional staff development plan until the completion of BA.
Teacher II: Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development, including six (6) Infant/Toddler units.
Valid California Children's Center Permit or California Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commissionon Teacher Credentialing.
Minimum of two (2) years of paid experience working with children ages 0–5; experience with infants and toddlers is highly desirable.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomicbackgrounds.
Ability to incorporate parent input into children's developmental goals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercisesound judgment, respond effectively to changing situations, and demonstrate a strong commitment to serving children, families, and the community.
