Create a developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth while integrating Early Head Start components into daily activities. Encourage parents to reinforce learning at home and support their role as primary educators. Assist parents in identifying and increasing their understanding of activities that foster their child's development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure daily indoor and outdoor safety through inspections, hazard removal, and cleanliness.
Supervise children continuously, establishing understandable safety rules and conducting regular emergency drills.
Develop and implementage-appropriate activities that promote healthy habits, motor skills, and cultural inclusion.
Conduct daily health checks, recognize illnesses, and report concerns to health professionals.
Create a safe, inviting, and orderly environment that reflects children’s cultural backgrounds.
Plan and document weekly lessons, observing and tracking each child's developmental progress.
Adapt activities and routines to meet individual needs, including children with special needs.
Foster children’s communication, independence, self-esteem, and social skills through engaging activities.
Build strong relationships with parents, encouraging their involvement and providing education on child development.
Prepare for home visits and parent conferences, contributing to the ongoing Education Services Plan.
Oversee classroomvolunteers, supervise staff, and manage program supplies and documentation.
Work independently with limited supervision, using sound judgment, with oversight from the Area Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE):
Teacher I: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development; currently enrolled incourses toward a Bachelor’s Degree. Placement on a professional staff development plan until completion of the BA is required. A BA degree is preferred.
Teacher II: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development Valid California Children’s Center Permit or a California Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
At least two (2) years of paid experience working with children aged 0-5.
Must possess own vehicle, a current and valid California Driver’s License, and at least minimal general liability automobile insurance.
Must maintain Live Scan fingerprint clearance throughout employment; revocation will result in immediate removal and termination.
Mandatory pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, which must be kept current for the duration of employment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
English and Spanish are preferred.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to effectively understand and be understood.
Ability to incorporate parental input into a child's developmental goals.
Ability to relate well to diverse populations, including low-income families.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
